1sts Day 3
A disappointing end to the season with the Islanders falling 29 runs
short. Despite a fantastic knock by Skipper Scotty Phillips (100) we
just couldn't get over the line. Scrappy (20) made just 1 more before
he was caught behind. Sarge (0) was given out LBW but he says he hit
it, Bails (0) was caught in the gully. Lamby (5) hung around for a while
also but was bowled. Bickers (6no) came to the crease and held an end
while Scotty tried to knock off the runs. They put on 48 for the last
wicket and great effort, until Scotty was bowled.
Well done boys you put on a great show for the great Long Island crowd.
Congratulations must go to Heatherhill who fought out the game till
the end.

1sts Day 2
Heatherhill fought hard 2nd day managing to get their score to 237.
Some good bowling by Scotty (5/95) and Arnie (2/99) finished them off.
We got off to a shakey start losing Stuart McLeod for 1, Meash and Burkey
battled hard before Meash (13) dabbled at one and was caught behind,
Burkey (22) followed soon after from a great catch in the gully by Mathew
Meagher, he also caught Joel Stevenson (5) aswell. Arnie came to the
crease and within the 1st couple of balls copped one on the helmet,
maybe this rattled because he was out a couple of balls later after
a mix up with Scotty and he was run out. Stuart Doolan and Scotty battled
hard until the end with Scrappy being dropped in the last over.
Next week should be a ripper with the game evenly poised.

A great effort from the 5ths today but unfortunately
they just couldn't get over the line. We bowled first containing Seaford
Tigers to 140 with some great bowling from Trev Allcott, Brad Phillips
and Marty O'Brien. We lost a couple of quick wickets, but Brad and Rev
steadied the ship for a while but when Brad was caught behind and Rev
caught on the boundary we knew our batters had to bat well. Marty O'Brien
batted superbly making 20 or so, but unfortunately we just couldn't
get the runs losing by 8. A great effort from all the boys, well done!

of the game
The 1sts won the toss and decided to have a bowl and
it paid off getting Heatherhills' top 3 cheaply. Arnie (1) and Scotty
(2) bowled superbly. Lamby (3) was first change and tightened the screws
with Bickers also bowling a good spell. Meash unfortunately did a groin
so was forced from the field allowing Striker the 12th man to have a
run. At tea it was 6/90. Bails bowled well for his 2 overs but Scotty
decided to take the new ball so Arnie and Scotty came back on. But a
fight back from Heatherhill saw them finish for the day at 6/164. Day
2 should be a ripper, get down to Mornington and support the boys.

Congratulations To Michael Phillips who got his 50th wicket
in the 5ths Semi Final.
Semi Finals Day 2
The 1sts finally got to play, we lost the toss and were sent in, we
got off to a shakey start losing 2 quick wickets but Burke continued
his great form with a well compiled 51. Arnie was the other star with
the bat smashing the ball all over the park with 6 big sixes, one landed
on the clubroom roof (Bickers was the saviour of the day having to go
up and get it). Overall a very defendable score of 213. Baxter got away
to a good start not losing their first wicket till 46, it wasn't until
the introduction of Lamby and his magic full bungers that we got our
first wicket. Lamby bowled tight all day and finsihed with 3/39. Bickers
also bowled a treat and finished with 3/28. This was probably the 1sts
best fielding effort for the year with no drop catches and 2 run outs.
The 1sts will play Heatherhill next week after they knocked over Ballam
Park.
The 2nds battled hard but unfortunately just couldn't get over the line
losing by 1 wicket. Moose finished with 2/56 off 17, Tex 1/34 off 16,
Middo 2/34 of 13, Boo 2/32 and Harry, Davey, Bazza or is it Spider Pig
continued his good bowling with 2/28 off 17.
The 4ths unfortunately couldn't get the wickets they needed and conceded
the game with Langy reaching 8/320
Some photographs of the 1sts and 4ths will be available hopefully in
the next couple of days.
Semi Finals Day 1
The 1sts were called off on the first day due to the council leaving
the sprinklers on all night, therefore a 57 over a team starting at
10 am Sunday.
T he 2nds traveled down to Sorrento and after a shakey start Tommy and
Grey Skull stedied the ship to get the side to 194, good tail ender
batting also from Dave "Tex" Phillips.
The 4ths were rolled for 65 by Langwarrin and in reply have them 4/168
over night, some good bowling by Boagy just couldn't get any more wickets.
The boys are going to come back tomorrow to hopefully get some early
wickets, have a bat and then get Langy out cheaply again, good luck
boys.
The 5ths are our first senior team to make the finals after a great
win against top of the table Tyabb, Tyabb lost two games for the year
in the home and away season, both to the Island so despite finishing
4th we went in favourites to top of the table Tyabb. The boys batted
first and made 9/186 with good batting from Brad Phillips 70 and Michael
Phillips 29no, with the ball it was shared around with Brad 3-33, Jonesy
2-12 Michael 2-19 and Hatchy 2-14. The boys play Seaford Tigers next
week.
A great weekend for the island with the 1sts knocking
off top spotters Ballam Park Scotty Phillips the pick of the batters
with 81 and burke 29, Bickers for his first game this year in the 1sts
snared 4/34.
The seconds also defeated Ballam Park with the Wizard getting back to
his spell binding tricks with 3/29 and Tex 4/56. It was Stiker 77no
and Middo 77 with the bat that proved the difference.
The 3rds probably had their best and worst season to date with some
great wins and some demoralising defeats none better than today with
the team dropping atleast 10 to 15 catches and as they say catches win
matches and guess what we didn't win this one Parksy and Laurie Hall
where the pick of the bowlers and Webby, Woggo and Hally again the pick
of the batters. This loss puts the team out of the finals.
The 4ths had a great win against Somerville which cemented their 2nd
spot place.
Next week:
1sts will play Baxter at Home
2nds will play Sorrento at Sorrento (David MacFarlan Reserve)
4ths will play Langwarrin at Home
5ths will play Tyabb at Tyabb (Tyabb Central Recreational Reserve)
Congratulations to the Under 13 Central's who defeated
mt Eliza in the Semi Finals, they now play Seaford Tigers in the Grand
Final. Against Mt Eliza Todd Dewhurst made 29 while Ryan Williams got
3/8. Good luck next week boys.
Great result for the 1sts on the weekend defeating Langwarrin
easily Flipper 4/34 and Arnie 3/27 got the wickets
The 2nds kept their final hopes alive with a tight victory over Langy
with Moose 4/64 and Tex 3/38. Results have to go their way next week
if they are to make the Semi's (Baxter play Peninsula OB who are tough
to beat and heatherhill play Crib Point, the two game we need to watch)
The 3rds suffered a very disappointing defeat it was only BK with 64
who really valued his wicket the rest of the team gave away cheap wickets.
Its now in their own hands having to defeat Skye next week to make the
Semi's with the winner getting the last spot.
The 4ths missed out on the outright but still got a great win Hatchy
finished with 71no and Macca 2/11 in the 2nd innings.
The 5ths also had a great win against Ballam Park.
Must win games by the 2nds and 3rds next week.

Frankston/Hastings Leader February 11, 2008 p39 photo of Lamby and Finny
Round 10 has started with some great individual performances.
Starting at the top with Burke (117) and Flipper (100) both getting
hundreds against Langwarrin, Stuey McLeod also making a well compiled
59.
The seconds battled hard to get to 230 thanks to Swampy making 76, he
and Dave (The Wizard) Barrett put on 68 runs for the last wicket partnership.
Weare also chipped in with 32 in the top order and grey Skull 31.
The 3rds probably played a game they wish they could forget. Steve (Flipper)
Phillips was the pick of the bowlers with 4/43. It was a very long day.
The 4ths was the Macca game with Craig getting a hat trick in his spell
of 8 overs 5 maidens 5 for 9 runs. Woggo made 42 in the chase for quick
runs to look at the sides 4th Out right for the season.
The 5ths won quite convincingly with Brad Phillips making sure his brother
didn't get all the pats on the back making 107no and Daniel Heyne 63no.
Congratulation also to Arnie who in the Country Week game got a hat
trick against Ballarat (7/27)
Congratulations also to the Under 13 who have made the Semi Finals.
Congratulations Michael Burke 4000 runs.
What a great Round for the Island 5 wins with three of
those being Outright wins, one would think this was a club record, 3
in the one round.
The 1st defeated Mornington with Finny scoring 40, Flipper 59no and
Arnie 32no, this win keeps us in the 4 at 2nd spot.
The 2nds defeated Mornington Outright with Scooby scoring a well needed
ton 107 and Boo 66no, Bickers was the destroyer with the ball with 6/24.
The 3rds won Outright against Mt Martha, Laurie Hall was the destroyer
with the ball with some great off spin bowling fininshing with 5/21,
Mt Martha tried to block out the day the the flight was just too much
for them. Should mention Parksy's effort, needing one run to win he
begged Laurie to bat because it was his birthday, went out and made
a second ball duck. (we only needed 1 run to win Parksy)
The 4ths had the last Outright win with a very exciting finish with
most of the club cheering them on.After bowling Mt Martha out for 170
in the second innings with Boagy the destroyer 5/29 we needed to make
100 of 10 overs. Marty Kelly was the hero scoring an unbeaten 55no.
Woggo hit the winning runs though when he went to the crease with no
pads, gloves or box.
The 5ths also had a great win bowling Heatherhill out for 75 and making
easy work of the scorecard despite losing a few wickets.
Next week should see some very interesting selections with all teams
viaing for the finals with a number of players unavailable.

Round 9 looks up for the Islanders. The 1sts contained Mornington to
197, with Scotty taking 4/60 and Lamby 4/62, Bails got the other and
one retired hurt with a broken wrist. In reply we are 1/12 Meash being
the unfortunate one being caught off the arm (yes it was off the arm
Meash showed everyone the bruise and I mean everyone)
The 2nds needed a strong result in their game against Mornington and
that they got bowling them out for 136 Bickers the pick of the bowlers
with 3 and reaching his 200th Senior wicket, Moose 2 and Striker 2.
In reply we are 1/97 with Stuart Doolan getting some much needed runs
with 56no.
The 3rds continued their great form bowling Mt Martha out for 75 with
Parksey 3/48, Flipper Phillips 3/16 and Khanny 4/7. In reply we declared
at 5/182 with the dropped 2nds players scoring the runs Middo 46, T-Shirt
Tommy 59 and Jazzy Jeff 43no. We had 8 overs at the at the end of the
day but unfortunately we couldn't get any wickets.
The 4ths also playing Mt Martha are in a similar situation as the 3rds
bowling them out for 111 with Lukie Fossett 3-28 and Macca 3-37. In
reply we declared at 4/182 with Blackers 46, Marty Kelly 36 and Woggo
31. The 4ths also had 8 overs at them and snared 2 great wickets.
The 5ths had a great win against Somerville which got them back into
the 4. We made 6/110 with Hatchy 24, J.Paxton 20no and Rev 33 getting
the runs. The bowlers contained Somerville to 97 with Jonesy 2-17 Brad
(Chainsaw) Phillips 4-1 and Trev Allcott 2-7.
Next week hopefully will bring some great results for all teams and
cement their spots for the finals.
Belated congratulations to Evan Dexter who played his
50th game this week.
It was a great spectacle when the teams returned to the
rooms with the 20/20 Under 11 challenge taking place, with Fos commentating
very ball and I mean every ball. it was great to see so many players
including most of mornington's 1sts staying back to watch the game.
No idea who won though, the biggest winner though was cricket at the
Island. Well done to everyone who organised it.
Don't forget this Thursday we play Peninsula Old boys
in a 20/20 game at home starting at about 5:30, come along and support
the boys.

Just checked the Jack Peacock Cup results and we finished
10th on the ladder which means we progress to the next round. We play
Peninsula Old Boys at home. More to follow. Click on the 1sts lick to

Scotty Phillips continued his match winning effort making
105 not out with the bat, Tugger helped out with 54 and Sarge chipped
in with 36. This now puts us 2nd on the ladder.
Despite some good bowling from Striker the 2nds just couldn't get over
the line despite having Sorrento 8/101 they just couldn't get the wickets.
The 3rds had a great out right win with Ryan Lee snaring his 300th wicket
and 11 for the game and last wicket for the season due to him going
for a knee operation (has he done enough to obtain the 3rds bowling
award, only time will tell), Steve Phillips chipped in with 4 wickets
with some great bowling
The 4ths were rain affected but before it was Woggo was unbeaten on
109.
The 5ths too were rain affected containing Seaford Tigers to 209 with
Tappy Senior 3/48 and Macca 2/37, we got off to a good start with the
bat being 0/33 but the heavens opened up and that was that.
Don't forget fees are due this week so no pay no play which should ammount
to interesting selections coming into finals time.
A mixed bag for the round with the 1sts getting Sorrento
out for 248 with captain Scotty Phillips leading from the front taking
9/91 this was the 4th best bowling figures for the club ever (J.De Zilva
9/12, P.Dunning 9/28, S.Swift 9/34) Arne took the other wicket.
The 2nds crumbled with the bat all out for 122 with clunk 30 and 1st
gamer justin Parkes 22.
The 3rds got off to a great start with Ryan bowling a player 2nd ball,
he continued this great bowling snaring 6/42 to have balnarring out
for 71, he was on a hat trick with the last wicket to come, unfortunately
for him though Balnarring only had 10 players which also stopped him
from getting a 7 for aswell. He did get a Welsh hat trick though 3 wickets
in 5 balls (What the!) We went in to bat and Marty 24 and Paul (Cadbury)
Morrow 63 smashed our way to victory, Rev 22 and Khanny 20 chipped in
as well. We gave ourselves another 10 overs at them and snared anpther
5 wickets with Ryan taking 3 and St.Phillips 2. Ryan now needs 1 more
wicket for his 300 club wicket and 10 for the game.
The 4ths chased leather all day with Skye making 320, Fish 3/63 was
the pick of the bowlers.
The 5ths suffered their 1st loss for a couple of weeks going down to
Baden Powell, our batting cost us only making 108 with Poxon continuing
his good form with 23, Hatch was the pick of the bowlers with 3/5
New ICC Rules
A disappointing result for the Island going down by 17
runs against Seaford, good batting by Boo and Clunk though nearly got
us over the line. Catches win matches as we all know.
Long Island will play Seaford at Seaford this Thursday
night in their 20/20 Jack Peacock clash.
Round 7 Statistics now up. Click
Here
The 1sts hold on to 4th spot with a great win against
Tyabb with Burkey scoring an unbeaten 120 to guarantee victory Huggie
chipped in with 44 and Arnie 41no.
The seconds probably had their worst defeat for a long time going down
to Tyabb despite some good individual performances from T-Shirt Tommy
61, Clunk 37 and Jazzy Jeff 34, a game which we need to forget about.
The 2nds now sit in 6th spot, 6 points out.
The 3rds had a bye and now sit in 6th spot 8 points out of the 4
The 4ths continue their good form with a great win against Ballam Park
with Trent 47, Marty 39,
Webby 62 and Boagy 38 all making easy work of the total. The 4ths now
sit in 3rd spot.
The 5ths also continue their great form with a good win against top
team Tyabb with
Brad (chainsaw) Phillips on his return to the club snaring 4/15 and
Jonesy also chipping in with 4/23.
Trev 29 and James Paxton 20no make easy work of the runs. The 5ths now
sit in 4th spot 12 points clear of the next team.
Next week is probably do or die for the 2nds and 3rds
and with some unavailability's it should be an interesting selection.
Some good results for the Island Bowlers on the weekend
despite the scorching heat with Jared Bailey after his recall to the
firsts getting a Hat Trick and finishing with 3/23, with Arne, Maxy
and Lamby chipping in with 2 wickets each.
The seconds too bowled with Dave (Harry Potter) Barrett bowling a treat
to snare his second 6 for with 6/52, although we are behind the eight
ball with us already losing 2 quick wickets (Laurie 65 overs in the
field, two crap overs and two overs batting, you must learn to leave
the ball, have fun umpiring next week with Bickers).
The 4ths also bowled with captain Jeff Boag leading from the front taking
5/38 and Steve Phillips chipping in with 3/46.
Congratulations to Greg Lamb who now has 350 senior wickets
Good luck to Simon Fisher who plays his 100th Senior game
today against Ballam Park in the 4ths.
The 2nds are now playing at the Tyabb Central Reserve
which is the Baseball Ground.

The rain poured down on Saturday and as a result the
1st XI's game was called off, the 2nds weren't able to defend their
total of 263 only managing 6 wickets, The 3rds took the gambe of playing
the game and despite the good batting from Cadbury 78 and Jazzy 43 we
just couldn't get over the line due to losing 7/21 (no team can come
back from that). The 4ths continue their great form with another outright.
Fish fell 1 run short of his maiden 100 and Lukie Fossett snared another
4 for. The 5ths also continued their great form beating Seaford with
Poxo 37 and Michael Phillips all guns blazing 45, with Jonesy 5/24 and
James 3/9 with the ball.
The flag reunions night was also held and a big thankyou
to the past players who turned up on the night, a great night was had
by all.
On behalf of all players and committee I wish you all
a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and see you all next year.
Congratulations to Jake Middleton who has been selected
in The Under 16 Team to play in the Jim Beitzel Shield Competition in
January
A great effort from the Island last night in there
first 20/20 game for the Jack Peacock Cup against Delacombe Park. Scotty
got us off to a flyer with a great knock of 106 (12 4's, 3 6's), with
Arne also chipping in with a lazy 70 (3 4's, 7 6's). While with the
ball it was youngster Jarad Bailey who snared 4/15 off 3 overs who did
all the damage.

Congratulations to Luke Fossett who got his 100th wicket
on the weekend
Good luck on Saturday to Chris Weare and Craig McCormack
who both play their 50th game.
The 1sts gave it a real go on the weekend but fell
short bowling Baxter out for 143 with S.Phillips 6/70, and P.Hartle
3/39.
The 2nds played out a thriller with us coming away with the win by 7
runs with J.Haley 3-70 and Bickers and Boo with 2 each.
The 3rds just didn't score enough runs the previous week and poor catching
and poor lbw decisions cost us dearly, what team these days continues
to play one they have one, ever the firsts stop, only Langwarrin lets
have some batting practise. Khanny in his 100th was the got 3 for. Dave
Phillips bowled a treat so to did Buddah in his last game befor his
knee reco.
The 4ths under captain Boagy pulled off an outright against french Island
with Foss jnr snaring 4/1 in the first innings and Macca 3/53 in the
2nd.
The 5ths are continuing their merry way with another win Trev34 with
the bat and Jonesy 3-19 T.Allcott 3-20.

If anyone is interested in learning how to put the scores onto
the computer please se Fos or Laurence on Thursday night, we are really
looking for someone from the 1sts, 2nds and 4ths to put there scores
on the MPCA site.
Congratulations to Dave Larizza whose partner gave
birth to a future Islander Benjamin Thomas Larizza, well done to the
happy couple.
Some great individual results on the weekend the first
coming from Steve Hocking who fell 2 runs short from making the first
100 on the main ground and Trevor Ryan made 92no.
The 1sts started well but again had a batting collapse but managed to
reach 132 and in reply Baxter are already 2 for.
The 2nds won the toss (I think for the first time) decided to bat and
made a well compiled 283 with Boo 92, Godders 54 and Clint 37.
The 3rds also won the toss and had a bat, we got off to a shakey start
again but continued to fight on with Cadbury (22) and T-Shirt Tommy
(45) who both batted strong. We were 8/112 because a great inning from
Laurie Hall (47no) and Buddah (25) pushed the score to 189.
The 4ths also batted and made 330 against French Island ( the 3rds last
round made 304 against their 1sts 634 in two weeks they must love chasing
leather) with Blacks 74, Parkes 53, Volpe 48, Judge 41 and Boagy 31
also posting great scores.
The 5ths are contiuning their great form with another win against Carrum
with Trevor Ryan scoring an unbeaten 92, with Andrew Poxon continuing
his great form with 42 and a great knock by Daniel Heyne 32.
Congratulations must go to all the people involved
with the organisation of the ladies day on the weekend from all reports
it was a huge success. Well done to all involved in its organisation.
Congratulations to the following players who reached
milestones last round
Jared Bailey 50 Senior wickets.
James Bennett 50 Senior games.
Good luck to Jams Khan this week who plays his 100th game for the club
Statistics are up to date except for the catches because
some captains didn't fill them in, they hopefully will be up to date
by Friday. 5ths scorecard was not on when I did the stats so they are
up to Round 5 not Round 6. Click

Some disappointing results for the Island on the weekend
the 1sts went down to Heatherhill but held their own for the majority
of the match through great bowling from Scottie Phillips 6/81 and Lamby
3/40. I think the team will be doing a bit of fielding practice on Thursday
with a couple of catches going down at crucial times.
The 2nds probably had their worst performance with the bat for a good
5 years (2002/03 R8 they were bowled out for 71 against YCW) with a
measly 89.
The 3rds had a great win against French Island the team that knocked
them out of the semi finals last year, with Khany 3-26.
The 4ths also had a great win against Carrum with Boagy scoring 71 in
the win. Must have been the bat.
And the 5ths had a great win over Heatherhill with M.OBrian 46no, J.Paxton
38 and L.Volpe 32 with the bat and J.Bennett 4-33 and L.Volpe 3-19 with
the ball.
With a number of players back and the good form with the lower grades
selection this week should be very interesting.
Joel Stevenson is taking orders for new club gear, see Tugger if you
are interested.
So good individual results on the weekend the first from Jake Middleton
who score 113 in the 3rds along with Brendan Kelly 82 and in the 4ths
Justin Parkes bowled well to get 7/28.
The 1sts started off very badly but salvaged a reasonable score and
now have Heatherhill 2 for, a game in the balance if we get some more
early wickets.
The 2nds bowled well to contain Heatherhill to 265 on a very small pitch,
with good bowling from Bickers 3/69
The 3rds also started off badly but Middo and BK steadied the ship with
the tail chipping in some good quick runs Rev 36 and R.Lee 21.
The 4ths contained Carrum well with Parke snaring a 7 for.
The 5ths couldn't get over the line again against Somerville despite
some good bowling from Jonesy 4/46 and James Paxton 40 and Andrew Poxon
39.
Sorry have been flat out, here are all the results
for Round 3 and the 5ths
Round 4
Some good results though the the 1sts (Scotty 3/47 & Arnie
3/55) and sitting on top spot by 2 points, 2nds (good batting by Clint
61 and Weare 50no) and 4ths (Fos 35 & Parke 45no) all winners, the
3rds had a huge batting collapse (Woggo 54, Packo 24, Rev 23 and Macca
25no) and the 5ths just couldn't get over the line (Daniel Heyne 41
& Michael Phillips 3/37).

With a number of players available this weeks selection is going to
be an absolute nightmare for the captains with atleast 6 players available
that didn't play last game. Make sure you get to training on Thursday.

Statistics
for Round 2 are now updated (sorry I was on school camp)
Unfortunately Darren Lee couldn't play was unavailable next week and
Dave Collins car broke down so Laurence Hall (who nearly got a hat trick,
shocking ball though deprived him of one) stepped in and so too Neil
Kent next week. Swifty played and got his 1 wicket to reach 250 wickets.
Joel Tugger Stevenson is playing his 50th 1st team game, Chris Hocking
continuing his good form with 7/50 and despite Mark Webb scoring 113
it wasn't enough to get the 5ths over the line.

Welcome back to Darren Lee, Dave (Disco) Collins, Stuart Swift (playing

A great weekend for the Island with the 1sts coming
away with an out right win, with Arne taking 12 wickets for the match.
The 2nds also had a good win, so too the 3rds. The 4ths started strong
but fell away quickly and the 5ths also had a great win. Click

with their details. The players are as follows:
David Worrall
Daryl Hume
Michael Dixon (Dicko)
What a great site and a credit to those who set it
up and keep it up to date. I’m a past player from 78/79 and came
across it by accident. Spent an enjoyable couple of hours going through
the stats and trying to put names and faces together.
Cheers
John Crabtree
A good start for the Island with the 1sts already gaining
first innings points over Crib Point with Paul Hartle claiming 6 for
and breaking Peter Worland's Top Wicket Taker record of 430 wickets,
Paul know has 431 wickets all taken in the 1sts. Congratualtion Arne.
Maxy also did well with the ball taking 3 wickets. Arne did well with
the bat aswell making 46, Scotty 33 and Potto 20no.
The 2nds batted and made 221 with David Worland opening his account
making 60no and reaching 4000 career runs, Clint followed up his 71no
with 41, Stuart Doolan also opened his account with 29, Boo 27 and Wearey
22. They also bowled gaining 3 wickets 2 to Moose, 1 to Bickers.
The 3rds batted also against Moorooduc with T-Shirt Tommy making 88
and Cocko 51, with Pete Revell chipping in with 27no.
The 4ths chased a bit of leather with Langy making 268 with Fish taking
6/75 and Jonesy 3/39.
The 5ths had a close game getting Seaford out for 140 with Tappy taking
3/26, unfortunately we couldn't chase the runs despite Fos's 46 and
new player Daniel Heyne 27. Unfortunately Grose could open his account
and Bails said he got an unplayable ball. Great job old timers.

Mixed results for the Island with the 1st XI coming
away with a draw due to bad light. We did however bat fairly well making
6/167 with Paul Hartle (43), Joel Stevenson (39), Stuart McLeod (32),
Gary Measham (23) and Peter Conell (22no). David Maxfield was the pick
of the bowlers with 2/13
The 2nds having a great win, containing POB to 177 with some great bowling
from new comer David Barrett who on his senior debut for the club got
6/23 which included a hat
trick, which is probably some sort of club record ie a
hat trick on senior debut, plus a new
ground first, congratulations Dave and welcome back to
the club. With the bat we got off to a great start with Godders (46)
and Wizza (40), but it was Captain courageous Clint who put the game
out of the Old Boys hands with an unbeaten 71.
The 3rds too had a win first up containing Mt Eliza to 150 with great
bowling from Laurence Hall 3/28 and Luke Fossett 2/28. We got off to
a great start with the bat through Marty Kelly (28), Paul Morrow 39
and the ever reliable Laurence Hall with an unbeaten 43.
The 4ths up against arch rivals Carrum Downs struggled with the ball
with Carrum Downs making 9/240, with good bowling from James Bennett
3/44 and Stephen Phillips 3/31, but we struggled with the bat being
all out for 104, good performances from David Thompson (44) and Trent
Luckman (20), kept us in the game.
Next week the 1sts (Home) and 2nds (Away) are up against Crib Point,
the 3rds Moorooduc (Away), 4ths (Home) Langwarrin and the 5ths open
their campaign against Seaford (Home)
